OOKLA THE MOK:
WHO THEY ARE, AND
HOW THEY CAME TO BE
Ookla the Mok began in 1993 when college roommates Rand Bellavia and Adam English wrote and recorded 16 songs on a cassette tape and mailed it to themselves to keep plagiarists from stealing their ideas.
"Poor Man's Copyright" became a hit in an unexpected market: Nerds. Ookla started playing at Science Fiction and Comic Book conventions and the band became a cult sensation among the Fen (sci-fi fans). Their unique blend of clever, funny, media-savvy lyrics, catchy melodies and accessible power-pop sound have made them a hit among basement-dwelling mouth breathers everywhere!
Ookla has released four studio records and has played all over North America.

PAST MEMBERS
Ookla The Mok has had its share of interesting ex-members. CLICK HERE to learn more about who they are... er, were... uh, still are? Maybe? I dunno; I'm just the disembodied voice of a website.
NERD CIRCUS
It takes more than instruments and good looks to put on an Ookla concert (no matter what Adam tells the girls who hang out after shows). CLICK HERE to be introduced to the all-volunteer song and dance troupe that follows Ookla The Mok around the country. |
